Hi. I’m Joel Bailey and this is where I write about service design – something that’s been occupying my time for the past 15 years. I work as Director of Service Design at Capita, but before that I worked for The Team and Serco for a bit, and for a long time as a consultant on central government service transformation programmes like businesslink.gov.uk. My background before that was dotcom fun at Virgin.net and a bit of digital TV.

When I’m not at work, I spend most of my time hanging out with my family at home, mainly in the kitchen. Occasionally I like to restore my sanity by walking to the top of high mountains and taking in the view.

  1. Hi Joel,

I’m in the processes of designing my new website and was looking through the posts on my steelandstevens blog…..only just found your comment on my ‘diary of a ward runner’. I must apologise for seeming as though I completely ignored it!! You’ve probably forgotten all about it now – I’m such a fool! 🙂

    1. Ha. That was a while ago. I obviously assumed you were just being really rude 😉 no – seriously – I thought that ward experience was really interesting. have you had a chance to leverage it?

      1. Yea it was certainly unexpected. I haven’t really known what I could do with it actually. I’d be grateful for any ideas?

  2. Hi Joel:
